Charlie’s the kind of boy that no one notices. Hell, even his own mother can’t remember his name. And girls? The invisible man gets more dates.
As if that weren’t enough, when a mysterious clockwork man tries to kill him in modern day Philadelphia, and they tumble through a hole into 1725 London, Charlie realizes even the laws of time don’t take him seriously.
Still, this isn’t all bad. In fact, there’s this girl, another time traveler, who not only remembers his name, but might even like him! Unfortunately, Yvaine carries more than her share of baggage: like a baby boy and at least two ex-boyfriends! One’s famous, the other’s murderous, and Charlie doesn’t know who is the bigger problem.
When one kills the other — and the other is nineteen year-old Ben Franklin — things get really crazy. Can their relationship survive? Can the future? Charlie and Yvaine are time travelers, they can fix this — theoretically — but the rules are complicated and the stakes are history as we know it.
And there's one more wrinkle: he can only travel into the past, and she can only travel into the future!

I'm not huge on historical novels, but time travel fascinates me. Add in Ben Frankin and I had to read this book. Charlie is a great character. I loved that the time travelers in story are almost invisible to regular people. Charlie doesn't have any friends and his own mother can't remember his name. But when he discovers he can travel through time like his father and aunt, he learns that his presence isn't supposed to have an impact on time. Except it does. Thanks to him, Ben Franklin dies, and history as we know it is erased.
Charlie meets Yvaine, a teen mother, and he falls for her hard. She's a time traveler, too, and the team pairs up to try to fix the history they've altered. I loved the dynamic between Charlie and Yvaine. Though I have to warn that this book is more suitable for older teens because of their relationship.
I really enjoyed the ride through history, the alternate future, and the adventure along the way. This is a fast read, well worth the time. (Really bad pun!)
