When you control minds, only your heart can be used against you. Eight months ago, Kira Moore revealed to the mindreading world that mindjackers like herself were hidden in their midst. Now she wonders if telling the truth was the right choice after all. As wild rumors spread, a powerful anti-jacker politician capitalizes on mindreaders’ fears and strips jackers of their rights. While some jackers flee to Jackertown—a slum rife with jackworkers who trade mind control favors for cash—Kira and her family hide from the readers who fear her and jackers who hate her. But when a jacker Clan member makes Kira’s boyfriend Raf collapse in her arms, Kira is forced to save the people she loves by facing the thing she fears most: FBI agent Kestrel and his experimental torture chamber for jackers.
This is the sequel to Open Minds, which if you haven't read it, you should. The ending made me cry, and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Closed Hearts. Kira is unlike other jackers, or at least she thinks she is until she meets Julian and his clan of jackers with special talents. Still, none is quite like Kira. And as much as Kira would love to just fit in, she knows she never will.
Her boyfriend is kidnaped by the FBI agent Kestral, who has become one of her biggest enemies. Now Kira has to take on Kestrel and his evil plan to perform experiments on jackers. And Kira knows that Kestrel will do anything to get his hands on her. He'll use Kira's heart and prey on those she loves most.
There is an action sequence (the climax) that had me on the edge of my seat, tearing through the pages. It was so intense and awesome. I loved it. Quinn knows how to make your heart race. And the ending, made me want to cry again. I love that Quinn makes things believable, even when it tugs on the reader's heart.
If you haven't checked out the Mindjack series yet, do it!
Whose mind would you never want to be able to read?
FBI Agent Kestrel – that boy’s just evil.
Would you rather be a reader or a jacker?
A jacker, because the thought of other people controlling me gives me hives.
If you were a jacker, who is the first person you'd want to jack and why?
Like Kira, I wouldn’t really want to jack anyone. But if I was forced to, I would be out to right some wrongs by jacking people who pick on little kids.

Ah! I've been wanting to read Susan's books for so long. Kelly, wonderful review! Now I must go get the first book and find out all about this mind Jacking stuff!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Closed Hearts! If only I could just forget everything for just one weekend and lock myself away until I'm done. Susan is a fabulous writer.
