It’s been three thousand years since the fall of Azzaziel and the rebirth of evil; three thousand years since the Sentinal Order, an elite group of warrior angels, returned to Celestium. Their job—rid Earth of the dark creatures, the UnHoly. And with luck, end Azza’s rule.
As if casting out demons isn’t hard enough, five-hundred-year-old Nesy has to masquerade as a teenage girl to do it. Nesy is the best of the Sentinals. She never makes mistakes, never hesitates, never gets emotionally involved. Until she meets Aydan.

He is evil incarnate; a fallen angel that feeds off the souls of others. Everything Nesy is supposed to hate. But she can’t, because he’s also the love of her former life as a human girl—a life that ended too soon, tying her to emotions she was never supposed to feel.

Now Nesy must choose between doing her duty—damning Aydan to the fiery depths of hell—or saving him, and condemning herself. And her choice may cost her, and Celestium, far more than anyone realizes.
After reading Dies Irae, I knew I wanted to read Lacrimosa. The dual POV between Aydan and Nesy was done perfectly. Their dynamic and the way their feelings come into play in direct conflict with what they are supposed to do is only enhanced by being able to see each character's perspective. Really I couldn't decide who I liked better, and considering one is an angel and the other is a demon, that's says a lot about Fonseca's ability to create great characters.

The other thing I loved about this book was the way the past was interwoven throughout the story. I've read books where flashbacks seem to get in the way of the present action. This book wasn't like that. The past is part of the present. It's necessary for the story, planting clues and setting the reader up for some major surprises. I also really liked that information was only given when it was needed. There wasn't a ton of backstory to set things up. Fonseca gives the reader what he/she needs, when it's needed. That just added to the story in my mind.

I won't give spoilers, but let me say the ending had me on the edge of my seat. I was worried about both characters I'd grown to love, and I couldn't put the book down until I finished. I'll definitely be reading the next book in the Requiem Series.

Whose POV was more fun to write, Ayden or Nesy's?
As much as I LOVE Nesy, writing Aydan was natural for me. Fun, even. His tortured soul is just...well...I love writing him. Nesy was harder to get right; a definite challenge.

Which would you rather be, an angel, demon, or seer?
Oooh, that is a hard one. But I think I would rather be a Seer. They get the best of multiple worlds - extended life, being able to "see" the angels and demons, and yet still human. Yea, definitely a Seer. In fact, I like them SO MUCH, I am pretty certain you will be "seeing" more of them in future books and series...(and yes, that is a major hint at things)

What's your biggest distraction from writing?
LIFE! LOL! No seriously, I have a busy and complex life - two teenage daughters with active social calendars (but not yet driving), a demanding job, and busy extra-curricular things. The good thing about such a busy life, it forces me to me very diligent and almost selfish about my writing time. When it is time to write, it IS time to write. Aside from life, the internet is by far my biggest distraction. Fortunately I've discovered Dr. Wicked's Write or Die - a true lifesaver when I am drafting.
