Spotlight on Halflings by Heather Burch

Paperback, 288 pages
Published February 1st 2012 by Zondervan Publishing

After being inexplicably targeted by an evil intent on harming her at any cost, seventeen-year-old Nikki finds herself under the watchful guardianship of three mysterious young men who call themselves Halflings. Sworn to defend her, misfits Mace, Raven, and Vine battle to keep Nikki safe while hiding their deepest secret—and the wings that come with.

A growing attraction between Nikki and two of her protectors presents a whole other danger. While she risks a broken heart, Mace and Raven could lose everything, including their souls. As the mysteries behind the boys’ powers, as well as her role in a scientist’s dark plan, unfold, Nikki is faced with choices that will affect the future of an entire race of heavenly beings, as well as the precarious equilibrium of the earthly world.

From the very first page, Halflings throws its readers into the action, not letting up until you reach the last page. With some very emotional scenes, a unique take on angel mythology and swoon-worthy romance between the covers, there is always something happening to keep readers wanting to flip the page to find out what happens next.

Nikki is my kind of girl. A kick ass heroine who doesn’t want a guy to take care of her, who has hobbies and interests of her own, rides a motorcycle, and is a black belt in Karate—she gives these tough Halflings, The Lost Boys, difficulties watching over her. Mace is the good boy, caring and loving and wanting to do what’s right, and Raven, with a name like that, you can assumed this bad boy makes Nikki’s heart skip a beat and question herself and her feelings. Halflings is an awesome, action-packed read with enough swoon-y romance to make the die-hard Paranormal Romance lover crave more.

Miniview with Heather Burch

Sunrise or sunsets?

Depends. Am I on a cruise ship? If yes, then absolutely sunrise. I head to the deck on the back of the ship and watch the sun come up while dolphin follow the cruise boat. I even saw a whale once. Very cool. If I'm home, give me the sunset! It helps keep me grounded.

Breakfast or leave me alone until I've had my coffee?

Oh. Coffee. Must have coffee. Until lunchtime, then I'm famished!

Angels or demons or hot bad boy fallen angels?

Well, since I've chosen to write about hot bad boy fallen angels, I'm gonna choose them. :) Actually Halflings are the offspring of fallen angels and human women. Half human, half angel, all trouble.
