Spotlight on Borrowing Abby Grace by Kelly Green

What do you get when you mix Nancy Drew and the Sci-fi show Quantum Leap, throw in modern day teenage drama and angst, and divide it into bite-sized morsels? A hot new series by Kelly Green that is completely addictive!

Told in short, fast-paced episodes, BORROWING ABBY GRACE is the new go-to choice when you want a quick read you can devour in one gulp. The stories star smart and sassy Abby Grace, a seventeen-year-old with a talent for getting out of trouble. Sent to repair the lives of teenages on the edge of disaster, Abby is the perfect girl for the job. She has everything going for her . . . except one thing: a body.

EPISODE 1: THE SHADOW

When Abby Grace wakes up in the back of a van, she has no idea who she is, how she got there, or why anyone would want to kidnap her. After escaping her masked captors, she hurries home, only to discover that she unknowingly left her younger brother behind in the van. Unable to answer the police’s questions with her memories gone, she retreats to the safety of her bedroom where she tries to reconstruct her life. Just as she is settling into the belief that things will one day return to normal, she looks in the mirror—and sees a stranger’s face.

As Abby learns next, she has become a Shadow, sent to inhabit the lives of strangers in trouble. With nothing to go on except the vague hints of her cute but maddening Guardian, a 19th century ghostly teenager named Will, Abby sets out to rescue the missing brother. But she will need all of her intelligence, fearlessness, and wit, because if she fails to find him in time, she will remain trapped in this unfamiliar body forever.

This series is so much fun, and I love that it appeals to so many different readers. Whether you love action and super sleuthing, mysteries and science fiction, or just love young adult fiction, you find it here. Even better, it appeals to readers who may not want to sit and read for big chunks of time. With page counts anywhere from 20-50 pages, the stories sweep you up and take you away . . . whether you're chilling at home, waiting in the car, or relaxing in the tub.

Thrilling, original, funny, and smart, this series fills a need in the growing YA market. The first three episodes are available now, with more planned to come. I can't wait to see where Kelly Green, and Abby Grace, take us next!

And now, a MINIVIEW chat with author Kelly Green

Kelly, you are at the library, hanging in the YA section (naturally) and stumble across an awesome book you've never heard of about Jinn. When you crack the cover, a hot Jinn pops out and says he will grant you 3 literary wishes.

     - Wish One: A Fictional character of your choosing can step from the pages and come to life. Who do you pick? Hot boy toy, or kick a$$ heroine? Why?

Kick ass heroine. Every hot boy in a novel is already spoken for unfortunately.

     - Wish Two: You can step inside any YA book on the shelf and live the life of any character. What book do you choose, what character, and why?

Lyra Belacqua from The Golden Compass. Cross-dimensional travel to save the world, a giant talking armored bear buddy, and a cute but semi-homicidal boyfriend with a magic knife. What's not to love?

     - Wish Three: He leads you to the paranormal section and says he will give you with the powers of a character for twenty-four hours. What do you go for (angel, witch, vampire, mermaid, fairy, shapeshifter, etc;) and from what book? Why?

Tessa's ability to shapeshift into other people from Cassandra Clare's Clockwork Angel. I've always loved stories about people secretly changing identities, and taking on other lives (no surprise there!).

Thanks so much for joining us Kelly! I am in love with the concept for this series, and can't way to see where you take it next =)
